OVERVIEW

To  lead the design and implementation of IT services in line with AMMROC strategy, in order to ensure effective translation of business requirements into integrated and efficient IT solutions, platforms, projects and applications in addition to providing tailored IT related solutions to support AMMROC’s client needs whilst continuously striving to improve AMRROC IT efficiency to achieve operational excellence.

Education and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, electrical engineering, computer engineering or equivalent.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in any related field

Qualifications and experience

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in IT with 5-7 years of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities

Key Accountabilities

  • In conjunction with and as required by executive management, contribute to the formulation and implementation of IT departmental strategy in line with AMMROC’s vision and mission.
  • Ensure that strategy is translated into annual operational business plans for the IT department and that performance is monitored and managed to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Recommend the IT budget, and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of forecasted costs and revenues; areas of underperformance are identified and opportunities to improve performance are capitalised upon.
  • Manage department’s staff and teams by overseeing their performance management, recruitment, training and development to ensure high levels of engagement and competence.
  • Build in process and efficiency improvement targets for the team to achieve more performance year over year without drastically increasing staff
  • Direct and guide the continuous improvement of IT architecture, systems and processes in alignment with latest technologies and IT standards.
  • Maximize the use of Oracle system functionality versus customizing solutions when possible.
  • Lead the effective conceptualization and implementation of IT architecture in order to ensure consistency and optimization of IT operations.
  • Provide overall direction to the delivery management team to ensure the effective coordination with the business to identify emerging IT requirements, direct business relationships, and portfolio management while advising on emerging technological trends and state-of-the-art solutions to effectively meet business requirements.
  • Direct and guide the comprehensive translation of business needs into IT projects and ensure timely, quality and on-budget execution in order to ensure effective support to business.
  • Ensure effective management of IT capacity to ascertain that current and future IT capacity can meet business-IT demand expectations.
  • Provide overall direction to the system development team to direct and lead the effective analysis of user requirements, development/enhancement of IT systems as per business priority in order to ensure effective IT services management in accordance to business requirements.
  • Ensure that the system becomes more user-friendly for internal customers by overseeing updates and improvements that provide a better user experience and functionality.
  • Direct IT operations so that they meet and exceed the service levels agreed with users and conforms to relevant technical and security standards within budgeted cost.
  • Provide overall direction to infrastructure management team in order to ensure effective establishment and maintenance of a scalable and agile IT infrastructure to meet the emerging and changing business requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction on infrastructure related upgrades both from system and network perspective to facilitate optimum service delivery.
  • Ensure the implementation of IT security policies and systems to safeguard and protect all IT operations ensuring the reliability and integrity of data.
  • Ensure the effective development and implementation of quality assurance and control processes and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to facilitate provision of high quality IT services in accord with defined quality standards and SLAs.
  • Ensure effective execution of internal and external IT audits and the collaboration of all relevant parties to achieve defined quality standards.
  • Direct the development and management of IT services sourcing strategy, vendor management policies & guidelines in order to ensure achievement of IT requirements, in accordance to statutory policies with optimum benefits to the organization.
  • Oversee and ensure compliance to all relevant safety, quality & environment management policies, procedures and controls across the IT department to ensure that AMMROC provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.
  • Stimulate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of IT systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of IT so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate departmental MIS statements and reports pertaining to IT department to meet AMMROC and departmental requirements, policies and standards.
  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
