OVERVIEW

The Senior Specialist GL Accounts is responsible for planning, managing and controlling the financial and reporting section of EDGE and its subsidiaries, including implementation of accounting policies and financial systems, leading monthly consolidation activities and supervising the postings on GL activities to ensure timely completion of all activities, whilst ensuring accuracy and alignment with accounting principles and frameworks.

Education and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Chartered Accountant
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CIMA, CA, ACCA) is required

Qualifications and experience

  • 8 - 10 years of GL accounting and book keeping experience
  • Experience in UAE/MENA markets is highly recommended

Key Accountabilities

Strategic (EDGE Level):

  • Help Group Controller manage EDGE’s Finance accounting standards in line with the Financial strategy and meet the accounting norms set as best practices internationally
  • Regularly report to the VP / Group Controller on the operational activities of department, challenges and issues faced, to keep them informed and updated on the financial activities

Operational:

  • Oversee the control and maintenance of EDGE’s general ledger, ensuring all accounting and book-keeping functions are properly executed and consolidate the general ledger accounting activities at the cluster level
  • Manage the general ledger accounting, ensuring that all activities are carried out in compliance with relevant financial processes set-up as a part of the overall Financial strategy and guidelines
  • Verify and review the transaction flows and set-up enabled for posting transactions to EDGE and subsidiaries’ general ledger
  • Ensure that financial accounting transactions are accurately and properly reflected in the accounting books in accordance with accounting procedures, regulatory requirements, and any other relevant international accounting standards and practices
  • Oversee the monthly / quarterly and yearly closing of accounting books providing all the required information and support for the compliance of the process with policies and legislations
