OVERVIEW

To provide effective theoretical knowledge instruction to students as part of a flying training course, ensure instructional materials are suitable and maintain discipline.  Each TKI will be assigned for specific subjects in which they specialise and are then known as Subject Matter Experts (SME’s)

Education and Qualifications

Education

  • Formal recognised Instructors course

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 2 years of full-time theoretical knowledge instruction at ATPL/similar-level at a recognised commercial ATO or military flying training unit (Previous EASA experience would be an advantage)
  • Qualified in aviation as either pilot, flight navigator or flight engineer
  • Must have a high level of English Language Proficiency (ELP)
  • High level of subject matter knowledge in at least 4 required subjects

Key skills

  • Demonstrate a high level of Instructional Techniques
  • Must be computer literate, especially using MS Word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and past experience on helicopters (H) is a distinct advantage
  • Be familiar with Compliance Monitoring Systems, Safety Management System and EHS

Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct effective delivery of theoretical knowledge instruction of specialised subjects within given frameworks and to GCAA/ Horizon standard as delegated by CTKI
  • Comply with Horizon Operations, Training, compliance and Safety management Manuals
  • Ensure students conformity with training curriculum
  • Provide feedback on student’s performance and progress
  • Write / maintaining manuals / reports and documents as required by CTKI
  • Act as subject mentor for newly appointed TKI’s
  • Act as course mentor if appointed by CTKI
  • Insure teaching materials are suitable and available
  • Monitor ground training processes and suggest improvement / corrective action
  • Promote aviation safety culture
  • Report non-compliance to CTKI
  • Correct misconduct of students
  • Maintain attendance registers
  • Ensure wearing Horizon approved uniform in the correct manner
  • Promote Horizon’s interest at all times
  • Be professional at all times, free from any discrimination feeling and emotion
  • Suggesting any improvement and/or corrective action to CTKI
  • Complying with all EHSMS, QMS, Compliance & SMS requirements
  • Complete extra duties as required by CTKI
  • Conduct student exam as required by training syllabus.
